After Deery dropped me off in town I visited a candy shop. I had finished my half of the sandwich, and I was hungry. So I browsed all the candy options and decided I wanted some chocolates for the road. I went to the register to pay, but then I realized I had no money! So I asked the candy shopkeeper if I could pay by IOU. And that’s when I saw him.
My arch nemesis Moriarty.
“Moriarty! I know who you are!” I exclaimed. I clenched my paws and prepared for another battle.
But he denied that he was Moriarty. I could tell it was him. I could recognize that voice anywhere. So I insisted that he reveal himself. But he continued to refuse. ‘Such a tricky villain’ I thought. So I decided I needed to trap him to get the truth out.
“If you’re not Moriarty, who are you?” I asked.
“I’m not Moriarty. I’m just the shopkeeper.” he said.
“Oh really,” I said, leading him on. “Well, I got a tip saying that the shopkeeper here is Moriarty!!!”
He squinted his eyes at me, and before I knew it, he threw a smoke bomb at the floor. There was dust and smoke everywhere, I couldn’t see a thing, but I could hear him cackling as he ran away.
“No! Come back here, you fiend!” I yelled, but it was no good. By the time the smoke cleared, he had disappeared.
I would have to apprehend him in the future. But on the lucky side, now there was nobody at the candy shop, so I put a bunch of chocolates in the bag, wrote down what I owed and left an IOU for whoever actually owned the store. And I was off on my way, continuing my journey!
